Die Nominierung kam überraschend: S. Phangnon Konyak ist Indigene, Christin und dürfte bald als zweite weibliche Naga-Abgeordnete überhaupt im indischen Parlament wirken. Die pro-hinduistische BJP schlug sie vor, ihre Wahl gilt als sicher.
